Ten products, and a reason for each

Most skincare ranges are built to fill a shelf. This one was built to be finished.

Lumière started in 2019 in a rented kitchen in Bangsar, mixing a cleansing balm for people who had been told their skin was oily when it was in fact dehydrated. Seven years later the range is ten products, and the brief has not changed: everything here has to earn its place in a routine that someone will actually keep.

That constraint shapes the formulas. A product has to work in 32°C and 80% humidity, under air-conditioning, and on skin that is exposed to strong sun most days of the year. Textures formulated for a European winter sit on top of the skin here and cause the congestion that sends people looking for a clarifying mask.

We publish the full INCI list for every product, declare every active by percentage, and print a batch date on every carton. If a number is not printed, the ingredient is not doing anything worth claiming.

Standards

What we hold ourselves to

Four rules
01

Every active has a number

If niacinamide is in a formula, the percentage is on the page. A claim without a number is decoration, and this range does not carry decoration.

02

No fragrance in the treatment steps

Serums, creams and the retinal are unscented. Fragrance is the most common cause of the reaction people blame on an active, and it adds nothing to a formula that has to be used twice a day.

03

Two hundred units, dated

We make in runs small enough to sell through in eight weeks, and the batch date is printed on the carton. Vitamin C and retinal lose potency on a shelf; ours do not sit on one.

04

Nothing sold on fear

No product here exists to undo damage caused by another product here. If a routine needs four steps, we will tell you four steps and not six.

The studio

Come and try it on your own skin

The studio on Jalan Telawi carries the full range, and we will happily test a texture on your hand before you buy it. We keep testers of everything, including the retinal, and there is no pressure to purchase — most people who come in leave with one product rather than four.

Where do you ship, and how long does it take?

Anywhere in Malaysia, in two to four working days by courier. Delivery is free over RM 150 and RM 12 below that. We do not ship internationally yet.

How do I actually place an order?

Email us the products and quantities you want, with a delivery address. We reply the same working day with a total and a payment link. You can also buy the full range in person at the studio in Bangsar.

Can I use the retinal with the serum?

Yes, but not on the same night to begin with. Start with two nights of the retinal a week and keep the serum for the other mornings. Once your skin has settled you can build up, and the serum buffers the flaking that a retinoid causes.

Is the range suitable in pregnancy?

Everything except the Midnight Retinal Concentrate. Retinal is a vitamin A derivative and is not recommended in pregnancy or while breastfeeding. The other nine products are formulated without retinoids, and the serum is explicitly checked for it.

Is any of it tested on animals?

No. None of the range is tested on animals, and no ingredient we buy is either. Malaysia does not require animal testing for cosmetics, so this costs us nothing to guarantee.

What is your returns policy?

Unopened products can come back within 30 days for a full refund. If something has reacted with your skin, tell us and we will refund it whether or not it is opened — we would rather know.
